I didn't get around to posting my outfit from Christmas Day in a timely manner so here it is 2 weeks later! I was attempting to get into the holiday spirit by wearing red and accessorizing with silver tones. The bf and I are kinda matching, no? Please ignore the fuzzy socks as my feet were cold that evening. =)
With some of my Xmas goodiesH&M cardigan (similar) -- Petticoat Alley top from TJ Maxx (similar) -- F21 skinny jeans (similar)
Accessories: Aldo silver ring (similar) -- Claire's earrings (similar here and here)
Moving on to details about my shopping trip to the local Old Navy. I have seen numerous petite bloggers either reviewing or mentioning the chambray from ON so I have been tempted to stop by there ever since. When I was conveniently in the area for dinner the other night, I couldn't resist going in to try on a few items.
Old Navy dark chambray - sz XS (buy) -- Old Navy Rock Star jeggings in russet brown - sz 0 (buy)
I thought the chambray fit very well compared to the unflattering one from Coldwater Creek in this post. I liked the darker shade of blue but the one-sided pocket was a little odd to me. The jeggings were definitely tight but I managed to get into them after a few wiggles and jumps. I loved the russet brown color and the fact that they don't need to be hemmed but wasn't thrilled about the obvious whiskering at the crotch area and knees. Ping from All About Fashion Stuff reviewed these recently too and had the same complaint about the jeggings...read her post here. See the same color on Jean from Extra Petite here.
I only brought in the jeggings to try on so I just used them with the rest of my outfits. I apologize in advance if they appear repetitive. The photos below were with a sz 2 though and you can see even more bunching.
I thought the pattern of this button down was fun and it fit almost perfectly. I could see myself layering this under sweaters or dressing it up with a girly skirt and some jewelry.
Old Navy western chambray - sz XS (buy)
paired with an Old Navy pullover sweater - sz XS (this pattern not available online but other options here)
The buttons on the western chambray were actually snap buttons but I really liked the color and it felt warmer than the previous one I tried on. I ended up buying both chambrays to ponder about further, the camper shirt, and the pullover. I didn't get the jeggings since the fit wasn't great and they were regular price at $34.95. Everything else was on sale minus the dark chambray shirt so I might end up returning it.
Any thoughts on my purchases? Which chambray do you prefer?
I really like the plaid shirt on you. Fits you so well.
ReplyDeleteAwwww. You and your boy look so cute together.
Really like that second chambray, Karen! Disappointing that the jeggings didn't fit well/weren't on sale, especially since so many other petite bloggers have had such good luck with them!
ReplyDeleteSuch happy holiday photos! I adore the first pic with the denim shirt & jeggings in the dressing room. Thanks for sharing! BTW, I'm just about to hit Old Navy myself to try out those retro-flared pants. Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteHii
ReplyDeleteHey you look pretty ! very nice blog! i think that maybe we can follow each other (fb, blogger...) come to see my blog and tell me =)
ReplyDeletekaren-- i really like the red blouse you're wearing in the xmas outfit! love that color on you.
ReplyDeletei don't think the jeggings look bad on you at all. better on u than me, esp the inseam! i acutally like like the color of the camper shirt. in regards to the chambray, i like the color of the one i own and the fit of the lighter color one...hahaha!
Love your Christmas picture. Red looks good on you. The jegging in the russet brown is a pretty color. Too bad the fit didn't work out for me. I'm not a fan of skinny jean on me but you and the other petite totally rock the skinny jean.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your belated Christmas pics! You guys make a cute couple! :)
ReplyDeleteSo much Old Navy stuff! I really want to try on those pants to see if they would work for me! Despite the one pocket, I do like the first chambray the most! :)
The flats you are wearing are so cute!
love all the outfits pictured! you've inspired me to give old navy sometime very soon!

Such cute Christmas photos!
ReplyDeleteI definitely like first chambray the best except for a pocket. I do not think it looks strange on you, but if i were you i would feel weird...
Thanks for the lovely comment! I need more plaid in my life!
ReplyDeleteThanks JJ! I think I like this second one better too! Yeah the jeggings fit so nice on some of the other girls! Its because I have a bigger butt. Lol
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sophie! Ooo good luck with those flared pants...can't wait to see you in them!
ReplyDeleteHey Victoria thanks for stopping by! You are so sweet and would love to follow your blog if you do the same for me!
ReplyDeleteOh forgot to ask what your blog link is!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ping! I need more red items then if they look as good on me as you say. Haha Hm yeah the jeggings aren't THAT bad I guess. Good point about the chambrays...still deciding if I wanna return one of them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ying! Yeah I liked the color of the jeggings but not worth it for the price I guess. Maybe when they go on sale! Why aren't you a fan of skinny jeans? I think they would look fine on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks sweetie! You always have such thoughtful comments! You should give the ON jeggings a shot since I think we are pretty similar in size. I am still debating the chambrays but thanks for the input! I got those flats when I was in Australia at some random store in Chinatown. Haha
ReplyDeleteThanks Kelly! Yes check out Old Navy since their recent stuff is pretty cute. No problem...I will continue to follow your blog and hope you will do the same with me! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm all about the sales and am a natural bargain seeker. Hehe Do you ever shop at thrift stores? If so, any tips? Thanks for the sweet comment!
ReplyDeleteThanks love! Old Navy has some affordable options so check it out! I am actually quite surprised you don't have one yet!
ReplyDeleteOoo how did they fit on you? I have been kinda obsessed with button-downs of all sorts lately too! Hope to hear about your trip to ON soon! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Gen! How were the holidays for you?
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and for the comment! Hope you will continue to read!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marion for the feedback! Too bad that wasn't my tree...it was at my bf's aunt's house. Haha
ReplyDeleteThanks SS (is that your nickname?)! Yeah I like the color of the first one a lot but the pocket thing bugs me a bit..
ReplyDeleteI really want a chambray top and some red denim! I prefer this color over your other post. The other one is much more dull.
ReplyDeleteOMG! I loved the first chambray on you plus the rustic orange jeans! LOVE LOVE! I might need to get it now haha also, I liked your fuzzy socks :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Karen! I tried on both of the shirts as well and was leaning towards the lighter colour "western" version but....I am holding out for a deal...like $9.99 haha I am so bad! Can't wait to see what you decide to get.
ReplyDeleteKaren, it's hard to tell but I have fat thighs. Skinny jean emphasizes how big they are so I stay away from skinny jean.
ReplyDeleteFantastic red top your wearing for Christmas! I love chambray shirts and the dark one is my fav. The gingham shirt is a great color too. I'm holding off for a deal so will head to Old Navy when they are doing further markdowns :) Great post.
ReplyDeleteRed Soles and Red Wine
You should check out Old Navy for some affordable options! The other one was miles away from this post. haha Good luck with your search and thanks for your comment!
ReplyDeletehahaha thanks hun! I think the chambray would look awesome on you too! I'm glad you liked my socks as well. =P
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Bessie! Yeah I thought the western one was thicker and fit better. I think most likely I am going to keep that one...or both. LOL Deals are always good but then again it sucks when you can't find your size later! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jen! I am really into bright red lately. Yeah they might have more deals coming up so good luck with that!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they aren't as bad as you think...I think my thighs are fat LOL
ReplyDeletegreat pair of jeggings, love the color! really like the first outfit!
