Chartreuse Tee and JPG Exhibit

I went fruit picking for the first time over the weekend and got a bunch of fresh apricots, nectarines, and strawberries. They taste so much juicier and sweeter when hand-picked. =P I was disappointed that I missed cherry picking season though because that's one of my favorite fruits. Did you guys do anything fun over the weekend?
From my Instagram (karenyee10) - the perfect little strawberry

Chartreuse has been one of my favorite summer colors to incorporate into my wardrobe so I wanted to feature it in my post today. I love this one because it's so soft and doesn't wrinkle! Back to my point-and-shoot photos while I'm still shopping around for a new camera unfortunately.
BDG v-neck tee from UO (buy) -- H&M black skinny pants (similar here or on sale here) -- Ann Taylor chunky cardigan (similar or cute one here) -- thrifted ivory kitten heels (similar with a bow)
Still love this chunky cardi!
Accessories: Target fringe necklace (pretty one here) -- Mossimo white python skinny belt (similar) -- thrifted silver cuff (similar)

I went to see the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the De Young Museum recently and it was pretty incredible! The mannequins had very life-like, holographic faces and the fashion was very 'haute couture' but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My fave...stripes!
Mermaid on crutches?
The infamous cone-shaped bra
Interesting wedding dress

Any favorite summer colors you can't stop wearing? Please share!

Borrowed Camera and UO Linen Dress

The weather here has been such a teaser lately...it was so warm over the weekend and cooled down significantly by yesterday. Why can't it just be in the 80s the entire summer?? Anyway, I was in my friend Ping's neighborhood on Sunday and she was kind enough to let me borrow her fancy camera and photographer bf to get some blog photos. We also did some shopping afterwards at Urban and J.Crew of course...the beautiful weather gave us an excuse to go to an outdoor mall. haha

It was such a gorgeous day that I wanted to take this linen dress out for a spin that I got from Urban Outfitters. It's actually quite loose on  me around the torso area but nothing a waist-cinching belt can't fix!
Cooperative linen dress from UO (similar) -- thrifted tan belt (similar) -- Banana Republic strappy wedges (similar)
Accessories: tortoise shell sunnies (similar) -- H&M mini spike necklace (similar) -- no name watch (similar) -- H&M braided bracelet (similar) -- thrifted knot bangle (similar) -- oval button earrings (similar)

I think it's time to start looking into getting a new camera because the photo quality on Ping's DSLR is vastly better! The skin glows and the colors are vibrant...makes taking pictures more fun too.

Canon T2i or T3i or a different brand...any opinions?

Tea Party and UO Dressing Room Review

Ping (from All About Fashion Stuff) and I had a date last weekend at Crown and Crumpet for afternoon tea. We had an assortment of finger sandwiches, scones, and mini desserts paired with a tea of our choice. It was a 2-person tea party and we had a great time catching up! This is definitely an ideal place to have bridal showers or little girl princess parties. Check out Ping's post about our visit here

Only a portion of their tea collection
Such an adorable tea strainer!
This didn't look like a lot of food but we were stuffed...
With the lovely Ping
Does my top look familiar? That's because it's the same as the one from this post but in a different color. Thanks Ping for being my photographer for the day!
Xhilaration sleeveless tank in Mustard (buy) -- H&M skinny pants in cobalt (although they look kinda purple in person (similar) -- Lux ribbed cardigan from UO (similar) -- Payless block heel pumps --> LOVE these shoes (see on Jean from Extra Petite) (similar)
Accessories: Target geometric fringe necklace (similar) -- silver mesh ring from HK (similar) -- you can't really see them but I'm also wearing Claire's yellow flower stud earrings (similar) -- thrifted Ralph Lauren belt - sz S (similar) -- H&M gray crossbody purse (similar)

And of course after eating, we did what we do best...SHOP! Urban Outfitters, which is one of my favorite stores, was at the top of our list and I snapped a few dressing room photos after raiding the sale section. =P
BDG sheer v-neck tee - sz XS (buy) -- Silence and Noise tiered skirt - sz S (buy)
BDG sheer v-neck tee - sz S (buy) --  Staring at Stars chantilly shorts - sz XS (buy)
BDG sheer v-neck printed tee - sz XS (buy) -- Kimchi Blue bow shorts - sz XS (buy)

I ended up buying the mustard and printed BDG tees (soooo soft!), the tiered skirt, this Silence and Noise geo cardigan, and this Pins and Needles lace-trimmed babydoll blouse in black. I really liked the chantilly shorts but they didn't fit as nicely as I thought they would. Overall, very thrilled with my purchases!

Have you had an afternoon tea experience? Do you shop at Urban Outfitters and what would you have gotten?

Recent Target Finds: Burnt Orange Lace and Fringe Necklace

Hope everyone had a fun and memorable New Years! I spent it in Tahoe with the bf and his family so my weekend was pretty relaxing. How did you ring in 2012? I finally have a bit of free time to write an entry about some gems I found at Target recently while raking through the clearance sections. As you guys already know, I love a good bargain!
Xhilaration sleeveless tank in Spice (buy in other colors) -- F21 skinny jeans (similar) -- Cotton On long cardigan (similar) -- Tory Burch Reva flats (buy)
Accessories: braided belt from HK (similar here and here) -- Target pewter fringe necklace (similar here and here) -- H&M 3D flower ring (similar)
I have been really drawn to burnt orange/rust colored items lately (like my scarf in this post) so this lace tank fit the bill. I thought the details were so delicate and it was on sale for $9 which definitely helped in the decision-making. The necklace was also dug up in the clearance section for $6!

Last but not least, I wanted to feature and give a shout out to my lovely younger sister, Junie, because she's been wonderful at playing photographer for me while on her Winter Break from school. She was also wearing lace in this outfit. haha Thank you!!
F21 dark green tank (buy) -- PacSun lace tee (buy) -- BDG boyfriend blazer from UO (similar) -- H&M scarf (similar) --BDG jeggings from UO (similar) -- Kimchi and Blue chunky heels from UO (similar)
I just went shopping at Old Navy earlier this evening so will be posting about that next. Stay tuned!

Fun Floral and Neutrals plus Modtoast Update

So glad that this work week is over!! I haven't had a chance to sit down and write a proper blog post until tonight due to the craziness at work and both of my sisters being home for the holidays. This outfit is from last weekend when I was in the East Bay visiting the bf and his family for a holiday party. I wanted to wear something fun and festive but not too dressy or 'Christmas-y' if that makes sense. Also, finally some decent outdoor shots!
Old Navy camel double-breasted coat (buy in blue plaid or belted version) -- Nordstrom BP cardigan in oatmeal (buy) -- Staring at Stars floral top from Urban Outfitters (similar) -- H&M black skinny pants (details and similar) -- Steve Madden tan heels (similar) -- Deena and Ozzy gray woven tote from UO (similar) -- Nails - Revlon, Tuscan Sun
This is my attempt at trying a new pose/angle haha
Accessories: H&M white crinkle scarf (similar) -- So Good earrings (similar) -- Claire's faux pearl bracelet (similar)

I love pairing floral prints in pretty much any color with a mix of neutrals like white, black, and tan. Can you tell that purple is one of my favorites?? On another note, I am digging the H&M skinny pants that I'm wearing above! When I initially tried them on at the store I thought they were a bit tight but ended up buying them thanks to my friend Ping who convinced me that they looked great. I do adore the deep black color and slim cut. After the first wash and air-drying, they seem to have loosened up and fit more comfortably now...yay! I'm too scared to dry them in the dryer for fear of shrinking them too much though. Anyone else have these and can offer any tips?

Last but not least, the owner at Modtoast which I talked about in this post sent me a YouTube review (I find the lady in the video is hilarious!) of her product that I thought was helpful to share since there are some YSL Arty Ring replicas floating around that are really poorly and cheaply made. If you want a good quality dupe, I encourage you to check out the selection at Modtoast. I am doing this because I truly think she is talented and her items have got me going back for more! I would be curious to know if you end up buying from her and what you think. :)
Hoping to update again tomorrow if I get around to it but if not, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Preppy Meets Edgy plus JewelMint Delivery

Le Tigre polo (similar) -- Gap schoolboy blazer (similar) -- Anoname jeans (similar) -- Deena and Ozzy satchel from Urban Outfitters (sold out but similar) -- F21 bangles (similar) -- Tory Burch Reva flats (buy)

I wanted to experiment with a statement jewelry piece yesterday and ironically, PetiteLittleGirl just made a post about the same topic. The main difference is that her look was dressy whereas mine was casual. Edgy accessories like a funky necklace and/or bag can really jazz up an otherwise boring outfit. I used a necklace that I have been dying to showcase and paired it with a preppy polo+schoolboy blazer combo.
Necklace from Lovisa which is an Aussie jewelry brand (similar but more colorful option)

Here are some more pictures of my Gap blazer which and love! The shell/body lining is mainly cotton and the sleeves are lined with a pinstripe design. It fits really well for not being part of the petite line. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it anywhere online. *sad face*
I was also super excited because I received a package in the mail from JewelMint with my recent purchase. I ordered the OrnaMint Mystery Bag so I could be surprised with the contents when it arrived in the mail.

This is what I ended up getting...
Aqua Bomb ring - sz 6 (thrilled about this)
Diving Belle earrings (meh...about these but I will give them a shot)
Well that's my update for now. I would love to get some feedback and hope you are having a wonderful week so far!
